E-mail: acmachado ipen. Acai berry Euterpe oleracea is a native palm of Brazil, distributed for the entire Amazonian basin. Rich in essentials fatty acids mainly oleic acid and linoleic acid , the Acai oil prevents abnormal conditions of the skin, as dermatitis and drying, and assists in the regeneration of the epidermis. Therefore, it is proposed a more effective topical administration of the Acai oil by its immobilization in BandGel type hydrogels, which is crosslinked and sterilized by ionizing radiation.
The objective of this work was to evaluate the composition of the oil when submitted to a sterilizing dose of ionizing radiation. The oil composition was determined by gas chromatography connected with mass spectrometry GC-MS. The results showed a small decrease in the concentration of ester acids and increase of some main products, i. Ionizing radiation effects in Acai oil analysed by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry technique.
The Acai fruit is a well know Brazilian seed plant used in large scale as a source of feed stock, specially in the Brazilian North-east region. The Acai oil is use in many purposes from fuel sources to medicine. The scope of this paper is to analyzed the chemical structures modification of the acai oil after the ionizing radiation. The radiation were set in the range of 10 to 25 kGy in the extracted Acai oil. The analyses were made by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry techniques.
Helium was used as carried gas and gave a column head pressure of 12 p. The extraction of the fatty acids was based on liquid-liquid method using chloroform as solvent. The chromatograms resulted shows the presences of the oleic acid and others fatty acids identify by the mass spectra library NIST The ionization radiation deplete the fatty acids presents in the Acai oil.
Details on the chemical qualitative analytical is present as well in this work. Acai oil development and evaluation of immobilization and release in poly N-vinylpyrrolidone hydrogels. Acai Euterpe oleracea is a native palm of Brazil, distributed for the entire Amazonian basin. Rich in essentials fatty acids mainly oleic acid and linoleic acid , acai oil prevents abnormal conditions of the skin, as dermatitis and drying, and assists in the regeneration of the epidermis.
The benefits of the hydrogels are known as dressings. The purpose of this study was to develop devices for controlled release of acai oil on poly N-vinylpyrrolidone PVP hydrogels. The behavior of the acai oil front to the radiation was evaluated by the composition of fatty acids of the oil before and after irradiation. Two different matrices of PVP hydrogel were evaluated physically and chemically through assays of swelling, gel fraction, mechanical proprieties and in vitro cytotoxicity.
Both matrices were considered adjusted to be used as an active release system. The devices were obtained by acai oil immobilization in PVP hydrogel matrices, were also characterized through assays of sweeling, gel fraction, mechanical proprieties and in vitro cytotoxicity. Moreover, they were characterized by assays of scanning electron microscopy and in vivo primary cutaneous irritation.
Both devices were submitted to assay of active release kinetics, and the acai oil was quantified by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry. The devices showed to be satisfactory to compose a release system of actives. Chemical constituents from roots and leaf stalks of acai Euterpe precatoria Mart. Phytochemical investigation of the hexane, ethyl acetate and methanolic extracts of roots and leaf stalks of Euterpe precatoria Mart. Except for 1, 2 and 4, the other isolated constituents are described in the genus for the first time.
Compounds 3 and 5 gave good results in the brine shrimp bioassay, which detects compounds with potential uses as antitumor agents, pesticides, etc.. Preparation of poly Urethane-urea nanoparticles containing acai oil by mini emulsion polymerization. Polyurethane nanoparticles NPs are promising candidates for the controlled and targeted delivery of therapeutics in a variety of biomedical applications.
In this work, a report is made of NPs produced by mini emulsion polymerization with isophorone diisocyanate IPDI and castor oil, glycerol, and poly ethylene glycol PEG with molar masses and as monomers and Tween 80, Span 80 and Lutensol AT 25 as surfactant and acai oil as costabilizer.
Stable dispersions with sizes between - nm were achieved. The effects from polyol, types and concentration of surfactant and reaction temperature on the size of the NPs and weight average molar mass were evaluated. Valerio, Alexsandra; Araujo, Pedro H. Galotta, Ana Lucia Q. Use of acai core as possibility of sustainable development of rural areas, the sustainable agriculture and rural electrification in Para state, Brazil; Uso do caroco de acai como possibilidade de desenvolvimento sustentavel do meio rural, da agricultura familiar e de eletrificacao rural no estado do Para.
Programa de Pos-Graduacao em Engenharia Eletrica], e-mail: pjulio ufpa. The core of acai comes from a palm tree native to the Amazon, which grows in clumps. It is composed of several stems, reaching to form up to 25 feet in each clump. From Its fruits is obtained a drink juice and consumed daily by people in the Para state, especially the capital Belem and riverside communities. Of this total The community of Maroon that lives on the margin of the Genipauba River, in Abaetetuba, in Para state, has no electricity and is a major producer of acai , which is traded during the season 'in natura'.
This paper presents the sustainable use of seeds, a byproduct of processing the fruits of acai. With appropriate methodology, natural pellets were obtained without compression, the acai biofuels. The work presents the technological innovation that has this type of pellet. The calorific value of the core, obtained in the laboratory, was in medium 4. The pellets have great potential for export due to their use.
It can be used in gasifiers, boilers for power generation, mechanical and gas ovens at bakeries, biomass stoves, replacing old coal irons, etc.. Xavier, Diogo J. With the premise of global use of the fruit of the acai trees, all the stages of the processing are described. These stages comprise the extraction of the pulp, treatment of residues, drying of the acai seeds, and it use for power generation. Estimates of the proportions are described in mass of the fruit involved in the stages of the processes, from the pulp extraction till the final products, and characteristics of the generation equipment.
Recent highlights of the PALS research program. Roma, Power Pal : power up your creek. The idea for the micro-hydro system was conceived after mineral exploration parties in Vietnam noted that large numbers of poor quality propeller turbines were being used to supply AC power to individual homes. A plan was developed to improve the quality and reliability of low head turbines with better castings, magnets, superior bearings and electronic load controllers.
Funding for the program was initially difficult to obtain. However, Power Pal micro-hydro equipment eventually came to the attention of the World Bank as well as other government and non-governmental organizations. Financing for the purchase and installation of larger numbers of units has now been achieved, and missionary groups in various parts of the world have ordered units. European markets have also opened up, and distributors of the micro-hydro equipment have been appointed in various countries.
It was concluded that the surge of interest has coincided with a steep upturn in oil prices. We consider the role of self disclosure in education contexts in order to inform our understanding of this skill in PAL. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were employed in this research to investigate….
